Loading Zones

Recommended Loading/Delivery Options:

• Long term loading can be done in alleys and off-street at loading docks provided by businesses.
• A vehicle may load and unload material for 20 minutes between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday in any City loading zone.
• Hotel and Theater Zones provide 20-minute loading and unloading privileges 24 hours-a- day, seven-days-a-week to accommodate vendors, guests, valet services, special performances and events.
• Loading and unloading can be done at parking meters as long as the appropriate change is inserted. To ensure turnover, meters provide 20 minute, 1-hour or 2-hour time limits. A vehicle should not park at a meter longer than the designated time - regardless of additional coins deposited into the meter - a practice known as "feeding the meter."
• Call 327.5253 to report a malfunctioning parking meter. For loading needs outside the designated loading zone areas, a request for one-day curbside access can be requested through a Right of Way application provided by the City of Indianapolis Permit Division 1200 S. Madison Ave. Phone: 327.4415.
